Stephen Donaldson - Thomas Covenant
Julian May - Saga of the Exiles (and the subsequent series related to these)
Isaac Asimov - Foundation
Brian Aldiss - Helliconia
Octavia Butler (who I am shocked to note died last year) - Xenogenesis
Frank Herbert - Dune (but not the derivative follow-ups by Kevin J Anderson and Brian Herbert)

I started Foundation but never finished, and never read much Butler or LeGuin. Dune was epic but I never even tried the sequels and beyond. Eric, some of those I'm not even familiar with. :) |
